Four- Term Alder, Julia Arata Fratta, Announces Run for Mayor of FItchburg

Over my four terms on the Fitchburg City Council, I've worked hard to ensure that the community that welcomed me 18 years ago continues to be a place that provides strong neighborhoods and a sense of community where everyone can have their needs met. Through sound investments in diverse housing and sustainable economic growth, paired with programs like the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative, the HUB Park, and the Inclusive Playground at McKee Farms Park, my track record on the council supports the inclusive vision I have for our community.

18 years ago, my family and I moved to Fitchburg from Baton Rouge, LA. My husband accepted a position working at UW – Madison as a professor. The reputation of this community for being inclusive, affordable, and a great place to raise a family led us to settle in Fitchburg and raise our two sons here. They are now graduates of the Madison School District and are currently attending college.  With a background in finance, I settled into my work life at a reputable CPA firm in Madison. I found it easy to get involved in the region and in Fitchburg.  In addition to my role on the council, I’ve taken on several leadership roles in the community. Currently, I serve on the board of the Overture Foundation and as a Treasurer for the Madison Region Economic Partnership. I am also very involved with the Latino Community in Dane County.

I'm ready to take my commitment to our community to the next step as the next Mayor of Fitchburg.

I want Fitchburg to be the best city to live in. I want to build our community's unique identity and achieve our full potential.

Fitchburg is a diverse, young, and growing community. At this time of significant growth, we need qualified and responsible leadership that will be a strong voice for every resident. I have worked tirelessly to ensure Fitchburg continues to be an inclusive, equitable, and livable community so more families will call our city home, like mine did 18 years ago.  

I believe that my progressive, proven track record and experienced leadership on the City Council will help our city realize its full potential. I look forward to continuing this conversation and earning your vote in April.
